With iOS 18 and an iPhone 15 Pro, selected Matter-enabled Eve accessories can now also be controlled locally in Apple Home without a central control unit. The Eve app offers additional features such as in-device timetables to flexibly and conveniently integrate accessories into your daily routine.

With the latest update to iOS 18, controlling Eve accessories with Apple Home is more straightforward and flexible than ever. Owners of an iPhone 15 Pro (and later) can now add and control selected Eve accessories locally and directly – without any additional control centre.
The Eve app also offers practical new features, such as on-device timetables, which can be used to conveniently adapt devices such as lamps or other household appliances to the daily routine – again without a control centre. For advanced features such as remote access or a larger thread range, a control centre can be added as required without the need to reconfigure the devices.
The Eve Energy CH device for local control is currently available in Switzerland and will be followed by other devices during 2025. If you want to check whether your devices are from the specified generations, simply go to the corresponding Eve page.
With the introduction of iOS 18 and local control, setting up smart home devices is becoming more appealing, especially for newcomers. Even without a home hub, Matter-enabled devices can be operated immediately, albeit without functions such as automations and remote access, advanced features that still require a HomePod or Apple TV as a control centre.
In addition, the Eve app offers convenient on-device timetables and other useful functions, despite the absence of a control centre. However, if you want greater reach in the Thread network or full control over automations and remote access, a HomePod or Apple TV is still the option to consider.
