SRG has made the decision to stop broadcasting its radio programmes via FM from the end of 2024. This step is part of a larger trend towards digitalisation and will ensure better sound quality, more programmes and additional functions.

Why is FM being switched off?

  • FM is an older technology that is being used less and less.
  • FM antennas are expensive to operate and maintain.
  • DAB+ and Internet radio offer better sound quality and more functions.

What alternatives are available?

  • DAB+ is the new standard for digital radio. It offers a larger selection of stations, better sound quality and additional information such as text and images.
  • With an internet radio or a corresponding app, you can tune into thousands of radio stations worldwide.

What does this mean for you?

If you want to continue listening to the radio, you should plan ahead for the changeover. Check whether your current radio can receive DAB+ - if not, there are various options:

  • With a DAB+ adapter, you can upgrade your old radio and continue listening to your favourite stations.
  • Invest in a new radio that can receive both DAB+ and Internet radio.
