Sonos Arc Ultra with AI speech enhancement – hear every word more clearly

The music is loud, the action is gripping – but it's often difficult to make out exactly what's being said. This isn't just annoying - it can be a real barrier for people with hearing loss. With this in mind Sonos has teamed up with the British organisation RNID to develop a solution: the new speech enhancement feature with four individually adjustable levels – now available in the Sonos Arc Ultra.

Finally understand every word

Whether it's poor mixing, room acoustics or quiet voices, speech in films and series can quickly be drowned out by other sounds. The new Speech Enhancement feature on the Sonos Arc Ultra tackles this problem head-on. A software update gives you four settings options directly in the Sonos app, allowing you to choose how clearly you want to hear dialogue:

Low: Subtle emphasis on speech without changing the overall mix.
Medium: Clearer speech with a balanced sound.
High: Focus on speech intelligibility, reduced background noise.
Max: For people with hearing loss – dialogue is clearly focused, other sound elements are lowered.

Developed by people for people

Sonos spent over a year testing with people with different hearing abilities who gave feedback on their experiences. The project was complemented by studio professional Chris Jenkins, who brought his film sound expertise to the table. The goal: a solution that sounds clear but never artificial.
