The magic of the AV market

Ugo Kratter, Product Manager at novis electronics AG since 1 October 2008, not only has many years of experience in the industry, but also a unique perspective on the corporate culture of his employer. In the following interview, he shares his thoughts on the unique culture at novis electronics AG, his passion for innovative technologies and the successes he has achieved in his role as Product Manager. Ugo, you have been with novis electronics AG since 2008. What do you value most about the company and its culture, and how do you contribute to it? 

For me, the corporate culture at novis electronics AG is something very special. What I value most here is the opportunity to think and act entrepreneurially. Our flat hierarchy and the promotion of independent action sharpen my instinct for networked thinking based on priorities and always working as meticulously as possible. I see it as my task to live this culture and also to promote it in my team. It is important that we all pull together to achieve our goals. 

What do you like most about your work as Product Manager? 

One thing I really enjoy is the opportunity to meet manufacturers who are developing new and exciting innovations. As a Product Manager, I often see these innovations in an initial phase and enjoy the insight into the planning. My position at the interface between suppliers and our sales team makes my work very varied. I love taking these innovations and then presenting them in the best possible light. I also enjoy evaluating potential new partners and making the right decisions to expand our product portfolio. 

What motivated you to apply for a job at novis electronics AG after having worked at Toshiba Schweiz AG for more than 10 years? 

That's a good question! During my time at Toshiba Schweiz AG, I had learned the trade of product responsibility, especially in the area of beamers for offices and at home as well as micro cameras for industry, experiences that influenced me. When I got to know novis electronics AG at joint trade fairs, the world of consumer electronics fascinated me. The prospect of working as a product manager in a very dynamic environment and with a new corporate culture convinced me to make the change. I wanted to take on the challenge and apply my skills in a new context.  

What unique skills do you bring to your department and work? 

In my department, I actively work for possible synergies. I am always interested in reassessing and optimising processes to increase efficiency. Precision work is particularly close to my heart, and I attach great importance to ensuring that our products are fully and accurately represented to the outside world. This meticulous approach helps to position our products successfully in the market. 

What successes have you already achieved at novis electronics AG? 

For me personally, I define success as when our team achieves the best possible results throughout the entire value chain, starting with procurement and ending with positioning in the market. It is an uplifting feeling to see a brand rise to market leader in a certain category. An outstanding example is the successful development of Onkyo in the AV receiver market a few years ago and also the rise of Klipsch with front and stereo speakers. These successes show me that our hard work and strategic approach are bearing fruit and moving us forward as a company. It is a team success that we can be proud of.
